How We Research
Every guide on Halimal answers one question: will this seat fit your counter or table, and will it stay comfortable for the people using it?
Here is how we get to the answer.
1. We start with your measurements
Seating only works when the heights line up. A 36 inch kitchen counter needs a seat about 24 to 26 inches high, a 42 inch bar needs about 29 to 31 inches, and a 30 inch table needs a chair seat around 18 inches.
So we check the seat height, the overall height and the seat width of every stool and chair. When a model comes in more than one height, we say which version fits which top.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at the frame material, the seat padding and cover, the back and arms, the footrest, swivel and gas-lift parts, floor pads and what comes in the box.
We also note the weight limit the maker gives. A weight limit is the maker's number, so we quote it and name the brand that sets it.
3. We read buyer feedback
We look for patterns in what buyers report: seats that run firm, swivels that loosen, colors that differ from the photos, or bolts that need tightening after a few weeks.
One unhappy review doesn't sink a set. A repeated complaint does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A stool that's a great fit for a tall bar may score lower in a guide about counter seating.
Scores spread out on purpose, and a perfect 10 is rare.
5. We keep guides current
Furniture listings change often. Colors come and go, and some sets are sold under several listings, so we check each model before we link it and only link new items.
We skip products with a known safety recall. When we change a guide in a real way, the "Updated on" date at the top changes too.
What our picks are not
Our picks come from research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have used every stool or chair we cover.
